Red Currants

red currants

This is part of our first crop of red currents 2006.

Red Currants originated from Canada - as they fruit on old wood they require a different method of punning than Black currants - Don't prune all last years growth back

While they are self pollinating the crop yield is increased by having a number of plants adjacent to each other.

They are not a sweet berry but are very rich in vitamin A, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin C.
