The harbor to the left of the image winds away through to Port Chalmers and then further on  to Dunedin.
The mud flats in the foregrounnd and to the left of this image are tidal and support a wide variety of bird life.
The flat area to the right is where the proposed Aluminum smelter was to be built during the 1970s.
