Light in Photography -   LIGHTING -

Lighting Diagrams

The direction & position of the lights for any lighting situation can be accurately recorded by marking their location on two clock dials one marking an X axis and the other a Y axis. One dial marks a plan view looking down on the subject with the camera at 6 O'clock.
In this situation, the direction would be marked at 12.15

The second clock dial locates the lights in terms of height. If we consider that the axis through 9 O'clock to the center is the axis of the camera to the subject, any light positioned below this is marked between 4 and 8 O'clock.

In this situation, the direction would be at marked at 11
