Photographic Syntax - Sheet film boarder - Polaroid Type 55 boarder

Polaroid type 55 Positive/negative film leaves a distinctive edge around the out side of the image where the image was processed via the instant Polaroid process. Type 55 polaroid film is an instant process sheet film that produces both a negative and a positive print.

As the edge markings are linked to the processing, each edge is unique - sometimes they link well with the aesthetics of the image. As mentioned they have a direct relationship to the process and overlay a series of marks that denigrate the purity of the traditional image - they appear to add a sense of process and decay. However these markings have also become fashionable to the point where many editors simply place any image inside the makings - there are even plug-ins for photoshop that will generate these markings as an over lay.
