LIGHTING -
GLASS
TABLE TOP photography
By placing objects on a large sheet of glass on blocks above a background,
and lighting them in a specific manner, objects can appear to suspend
in space in the resulting photograph. Setting up these shots can take
a long time especially when a black background is chosen. However,
because of the reflective nature of glass any bright area in the wrong
position will cause a reflection and be registered in the final image.
Even the chrome of the tripod can become a problem and the offending
area might have to be draped in black cloth. A large cloth with a
hole cut in it to poke only the lens of the camera through is ideal
in this situation.
